The farm Juan Colín dates from the end of 16th century; it owns its name from Juan Colin, a popular man in Montilla who served as Mayor and constable. The museum guards the systems of oil extraction which have been used in the farm along history. Initially, it was devoted to horse breeding, which gave it a great recognition as it is presented in several texts of the local history and it is shown at the museum on a great picture referring to the world of the horse, whose author is the famous painter from Montilla, Maria José Ruiz López. Subsequently,  it has been used as oil mill applying several systems at their extraction process. In 20th century they also developed wine-making activities. This history is collected at the Museum Juan Colín, where the oil extraction systems used at the farm along time are exhibited.

House of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega

It recreates the atmosphere of a manor house of 16th century and its a demand of the figure of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. He lived at this house for 30 years, where he wrote some of his pieces and translated Diálogos de amor  by León Hebreo.

Everything began at the beginning of the 20th century when Raúl Porras, historian and ambassador of Peru and José Cobos found the first signature of the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega which dates from 1563, a decisive point to establish the antiquity of the house. The house is divided in three floors, highlighting the cellar and the wineskins or the office. Among pictorial works of great relevance we find the portrait of Inca Garcilaso, piece of art by Francisco Gómez Gamarra.

The word Cusco, Qusqu or Qosqo means ‘centre of the world’ in Quechua and it was how this city was known before the conquest. But due to the Spanish arrival it started to be known as Cozco, that means ‘dog tail’ what is pejorative for the Quechua.

At first, Garcilaso signed as Garcilaso de la Vega, but later he added Inca meaning ‘Prince´for taking responsability. The winery is not the original room from 16th century, it was built at the place where the stables were located.

El Inca was father of a boy who served as sacristan of the Chapel of las Ánimas at the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba where his remains rest.
