Montilla possess great vineyards and produces well-known wines. The city is popular, along with other cities of the region, because of the wine Designation of Origin Montilla-Moriles.You can learn more about the production of wine visiting cellars, wine presses and cooperagesgoing through different routes as: Ruta del Vino Montilla-Moriles or Ruta de los Lagares, along with endless enogastronomic or wine and food matching experiences, visiting enoteche and an endless number of activities as Fiesta de la Vendimia (Grape Harvest Festival), 'MontiJazz Vendimia', 'Fiesta del Vino y de la Tapa' (Wine and Tapa Festival), Ecoracimo or 'Patios de Bodega' that will make the traveller experience a wide range of feelings.

Montilla-Moriles Wine Route

This route pass through southern Cordoba and travers 17 villages. This area is full of vineyards and olive trees and it has an unreachable biodiversity along with historical, artistic and patrimonial richness. In Montilla, you will find several resources to visit.

The Enotourism European Day is intensely lived in Montilla, a land with a very close relationship with wine.

Ecoracimo is an International Organic Wines Contest which pretends giving value to the quality and the reputation of organic products.

Fiesta de la vendimia
The Harvest Festival (‘Fiesta de la Vendimia’) has been declared as Festival of Regional Interest.

Patios de Bodega
The main objective of this activity is the creation of touristic experiences related to wine and the facilities related to enotourism: wine cellars and winepresses.

Cooperage

In Montilla the activity of the Cooperage is still preserved. Barrels for Montilla-Moriles wines are handmade. The cooperage was implanted in Montilla in 1235. The most characteristic pieces of the Montillana cooperage are barrels and casks which were bought outside our city until 1235. The raw material used is generally American oak imported from Canada.
