The city is popular, along with other cities of the region, because of the wine Designation of Origin Montilla-Moriles.You can learn more about the production of wine visiting cellars, wine presses and cooperagesgoing through different routes as: Ruta del Vino Montilla-Moriles or Ruta de los Lagares, along with endless enogastronomic or wine and food matching experiences, visiting enoteche and an endless number of activities as Fiesta de la Vendimia (Grape Harvest Festival), 'MontiJazz Vendimia', 'Fiesta del Vino y de la Tapa' (Wine and Tapa Festival), Ecoracimo or 'Patios de Bodega' that will make the traveller experience a wide range of feelings.

Cooperage
In Montilla the activity of the Cooperage is still preserved. Barrels for Montilla-Moriles wines are handmade. The cooperage was implanted in Montilla in 1235. The most characteristic pieces of the Montillana cooperage are barrels and casks which were bought outside our city until 1235. The raw material used is generally American oak imported from Canada.
