Cultural tourism

The city has an important heritage, due to the fact that from 16th century several religious orders located their foundations in Montilla, leaving an important heritage: St Clara convent, Santiago Church, St. Juan de Ávila Basilica, St. Francisco Solano Church,...

The main religious event, which has to be highlighted is Holy Week which has been declared of Touristic Interest 'Holy Week of Andalusia'. During this event we must highlight the 'Sentencia Romana', the dramatic play of the 'The Passion', 'The Capture' on Maundy Thursday and the Good Friday full of endless and opposing emotions that cannot let anyone indifferent.Without forgetting the flavours of the Holy Week: fried cod and sweets as 'pestiños' or 'flores' among other delicious dishes.
