Wine Presses

In addition to wine production, the objective of Cañada Navarro is promoting wines of Montilla-Moriles Designation of Origin and the enotourism; all in a family atmosphere that combine: cultivation, tradition, production and commercialization of quality wines.

It is an enterprise from Cordoba devoted to the organic farming of olives trees and vines. It is located in a setting of biodiversity and respect to the environment. Organic extra virgin olive oil and Pedro Ximénez sweet wines of the Montilla-Moriles Designation of Origin are made with high quality fruits.

This winepress began its activity in 1959, when vine-growers of the area got together to constitute the first winemaking cooperative of the Montilla-Moriles area, the vitiviniculture cooperative ‘Nuestra Señora de los Dolores’.

In 1985 it was bought by the current owners following their vocation and following the family tradition of wine making. Along these years the available facilities and equipments have been improved.

This family business has been devoted to making wine for more than 50 years. La Primilla has evolved along time and they have adapted its cellar, equipment and structure to the present requirements without losing its identity and authenticity.

Heirs of the oldest tradition and direct descendants of the famous winemakers García Toro and García Márquez, currently under the name Explotaciones Los Borbones, SL, the Garcia García brothers continue producing their wines using pampered Pedro Ximénez grapes, which come only and exclusively from their own farm.

A family house where artisanal production has been passed on from generation to generation. It is an ancestral winepress as it is testified by its counterweight  tower and the vestiges of the beam press located in the current housing.

It is an emblematic place which have known how to remain through the centuries preserving the taste of traditional wines.. It is divided in several sections: small winepress, fermentation area, pots cellar where the new wine is kept before going to the ageing area, two ageing cellar and two American oak casks ageing cellars (Sales of wine).

It is one of the reference wine enclaves in the Sierra de Montilla where we invite you to enjoy this experience walking through its vineyards with years of history and cultivated in a sustainable way. Where you can discover the characteristics of the land, our Pedro Ximénez grape variety, how the pruning is done, all in a beautiful setting of the Sierra Montillana. In addition to the visit and tasting in the vineyard, there will be a visit to the Lagar, owned by the Alvear family, where the harvest of their wines is carried out, highly prestigious nationally and internationally. You will taste in the vineyard itself and in the room of unique wine jars. Being able to discover the new range of white wines from the 3 Miradas project.
